Piggies – Mama and Baby

Hello Friends,

Here is my finished drawing of the mama and baby piggies.  I use Faber-Castell and Prismacolor graphite pencils.  I kept thinking parts of it weren’t dark enough so I worked on it quite a bit over the last few days.  Again, I drew this from a photo in the book, “The Wisdom of Moms – Love and Lessons From the Animal Kingdom” by Bridget E. Hamilton.  I did not trace the picture, though.  I have been trying to draw more by sight than tracing the outlines of things exactly.  But sometimes, I have to.  Also, I didn’t spend a lot of time working on the straw they are laying in.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.  Yesterday I worked on tracing a giraffe in ink and getting it drawn onto watercolor paper with the aid of my light board.  It is about 8.5″ x 17″!  If I feel like starting the painting later today, I may do that after I work out…exercise has kind of been going by the wayside lately, and my back is yelling at me to get to it!  I have certain physical issues that require not neglecting exercising a few times a week if not every day.

Hopefully, sometime this week I will get the post done of the other animals we saw at Turtle Bay.  Also, my husband got a couple of good pictures of our 15 year old dog, Brownie, that I need to adjust, print out, and draw and paint for the pet portrait auction I mentioned a few posts ago.  And…of course I am still working on my research for the sea turtle article I have to write for my writing class!  It is good to be busy, though.  I am thankful I can do all of this.

Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug!  🙂

Mouse Friends

Hello Friends,

Here they are, the boys and Mary, the head seamstress!  For some reason she is holding what looks like a needle but there’s no thread in the picture.  I finished this last night.  I didn’t color their clothing since I decided to “color” them. They are brown and this is just graphite pencil. I could have colored their clothing really lightly, but decided not to. Also, I drew them a little bigger than the picture I printed out from the internet which I did not post with this.

I plan to do this one in watercolor perhaps with some kind of background.

So I’m not sure what’s next.  I want to get some writing done for sure tomorrow.  I had other stuff to do today so I never did get do any work on my story.  I still haven’t heard from my instructor either, so it’s okay.  I have plenty of time.  And I have my watercolor class this Thursday.  So…

Until next time…

Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug!  🙂

Gus-Gus, Mary, and Jaq from Cinderella

Cinderella Beauties

Hello Friends,

Here are the little ladies who sew Cinderella’s dress!  I believe they are Mary, Suzy, and Perla, but I am not sure which is which.  In the cartoon picture I drew by sight from, their dresses are different colors.  However, to me, they all look like the same mouse, ha, ha!!  I like the way the middle mouse (probably Mary) is standing on the spool of thread.  It almost looks like the spool is her legs and the thread is her tail!  It looks that way to ME anyway.  😉

This was a fun drawing to do, but I did it last week, then forgot about it.  I have another group mouse one almost finished that I was doing last night with Mary, Jaq (real name is Jacques) and Gus-Gus as he calls himself, whose (real name is Octavius.) Hopefully, I will post it tomorrow. I think I said Jaq was Jack in a previous post, oops!

Today I will be working on my second story assignment for my writing correspondence course.  I want to turn in what I have done now and see if my instructor wants me to edit it at all.  So I am waiting to hear from her.  I hope everyone is having a great week so far.

Our weather has cooled down considerably in the last week or so.  It has been nice. Unfortunately, weather changes give the arthritis in my feet fits, but I’m used to it now.  But you don’t want to hear about my silly feet!

Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug!  🙂

5×7 Sea Turtle #2

Hello Friends,

Here is my new Hawksbill sea turtle in watercolor.  I did this one yesterday.  Since I had it lightly penciled on the paper already, I painted it in a few hours.

I am inside right now during the solar eclipse getting ready to wash some dishes.  We didn’t get special glasses to watch it.  My husband had a doctor’s appointment this morning also, so he may be inside through most of it.  Oh well.  I stood on our very shaded back porch and took a few pictures at different times between 10:05 and 10:40 a.m. PT.  It was definitely darker!

Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful week.  I will probably get back to some writing later today after doing dishes and working out.

Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug!  🙂

5×7 Cards Ready to Paint

Hello Friends!

I just wanted you to know that I am still working on my cards.  Unfortunately, I did not make it to the printer this week with the first one.  I became involved in a huge writing project.

Anyway, I did get three more sea turtles LIGHTLY drawn (sorry if you can’t see them well) onto the watercolor paper and will probably do some painting later today.

I didn’t feel very well for a couple of days this week, but I did get to talk with both of the kids for quite a while which made my week a lot brighter!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and all of you creative people out there are enjoying your creative endeavors, whatever they may be.

Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug!  🙂

Ballerina Shoes – Pencil Drawings

Here are some ballerina pointe shoes. I plan to do a watercolor painting of them soon.

Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug! 🙂

Ballerina Pencil Tracings

Here’s a couple of ballerinas I traced from a book. I tried to draw the child one by sight but had a heck of a time with the hands! So I gave up and traced it!! Then the other one is an older girl. I love her dress. I plan to do watercolors of these. They are from a child’s book about ballerinas. The lighting from my camera is terrible, sorry!

Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle Sketch

HERE IS MY LATEST VERY ROUGH SKETCH OF THE LAST HUGE SEA TURTLE PAINTING I WILL BE DOING. IT IS THE KEMP’S RIDLEY, AND I WANTED TO DO A FRONTAL VIEW AS I REALIZED I HAVE BEEN DOING ONLY SIDE VIEWS OF ALL OF MY OTHER SEA TURTLES. THE FRONTAL VIEW IS THE MOST DIFFICULT FOR ME TO DO, BUT I NEED THE CHALLENGE!!!!

Olive Ridley Sea Turtle Drawings – Pencil and Pen!

Here is my Olive Ridley Sea Turtle! These are pictures of the size I will be painting. This time I decided to trace the pencil with this really cool pen I received as a free gift at the art store where I buy my supplies. A couple of weeks ago, they gave away a little bag of goodies to the first 25 customers. It was on a Saturday, too, so I decided to go. I needed a couple of things anyway, and my husband needed something to make a sign for his California Conservation Corps. reunion. So we made the trip to town that day.

I am going to use this pen (and get more of them) for my tracings from now on, because I know it will be so much easier to see when I put it on my light board to transfer the drawing to my watercolor paper!

Have a wonderful day everyone, and give someone you love a big hug! (Do you know how many times I actually type gig hug? One of these days I’m going to miss correcting that! HA!)

HUMMINGBIRD DRAWING FOR JILL

I am calling this drawing “Jill’s Hummingbird” in honor of my friend Jill Weatherholt! She has a great blog. Check it out at: http://jillweatherholt.wordpress.com/

Here’s your hummingbird, Jill, along with a field of tulips. This was a lot of fun to do!
