Flower-eyed Fairy in Watercolor-Stage 2

Hello Friends!

Yesterday, I painted the background of my fairy. I have decided she is a water fairy!

I have an idea of what colors I am going to paint her, too. So I will most likely finish it tomorrow.

I am enjoying the process and am falling in love with watercolor all over again!

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! πŸ˜€

Flower-Eyed Fairy Sketch

Hello Friends!

Today I drew this fairy on 9×12″ tracing paper in pencil, but not darkly. Hope you can see it. She came out of my imagination, so I had to figure out how to do her hands the way I wanted them. She just snapped her fingers, so I think something is going to happen to…somebody…maybe you!

I was thinking about doing her in mixed media, but I think I am going to do watercolors. Now I need to transfer the drawing to some watercolor paper and think about the colors I want to use. Plus I will be adding detail to her wings and a background of course. I may make the flower iris and pupil smaller, too.

Little Girl in Pencil

Hello Friends!

First, this is a work-in-progress. I have been thinking a lot about what I really want to do with my art lately.

The topic of abuse is always in the forefront of my mind, and not just the abuse of women and children. All types of people and animals get abused every day and it is devastating to their souls.

The other day I drew this little girl who has been beaten and bruised and is feeling confused and broken as she sits in her closet. I tried to draw it so some of her room is in the background, but I added it as an afterthought, and the perspective is off. That’s okay, though, because it is not finished anyway. Some parts need to be darkened.

I have an idea in mind for a series I want to do, but it hasn’t surfaced onto paper yet. But it will be about a woman whose husband is physically abusive, but she decides to do something to help herself. It may be awhile yet before I can post any of it since I am also doing Let’sfaceit2020 all year as well. But this is my latest idea, so I decided to share it with you.

Portrait in Pencil

Hello Friends!

Last night I sketched this in one of my art journals…the one with notebook paper, thus the lines, ha ha!

I want to redo this one better and do a painting of her in watercolors or acrylics. Her neck isn’t quite long enough, but I think it will be easy to fix.

I also want to practice painting darker skin tones. I am really enjoying the things I am learning from all of the different teachers in my portrait classes.

Portrait in Pencil and Pen

Hello Friends!

Today I did Lesson 2 of my portrait class.Β Angela KennedyΒ showed us how to draw this girl using pencil and pen.

She is a little whimsical with her long eyelashes, but I had fun and it didn’t take very long.

I really enjoyed doing this one and had a lot of fun! I was also able to do it with my right hand.

Portrait in Pencil

Hello Friends!

I began working on this a couple of nights ago and finished it last night. I drew it from a photo.

I found out about an online portrait drawing class that is 50 weeks long and starts in January. It was offered at an insanely reasonable price so I signed up for it! Learning to draw and paint portraits is something I have been wanting to do for years. Hopefully, it will be challenging and fun! I have tried to learn from books, but have never been very successful. And lately, I have just been eyeballing photos. I know tracing them isn’t “cheating,” but I just don’t like doing it as much anymore.

I hope everyone is having a blessed holiday season. Ours has been pretty relaxing this year. And my shoulder is healing well.

Cobra in Mixed Media

Hello Friends!

After a great deal of thinking about what I wanted to do on this Washi Tape-covered canvas, I decided to paint an animal I have never done before…the Cobra! I think snakes are beautiful creatures even though in the boonies where we live, I have had to kill a few rattlesnakes through the years. But that was when our dog was a puppy and our children were very young. I haven’t seen any in years, though, which I am thankful for!

So for this one, after I drew the snake in pencil, I used my pan watercolors, then used my Winsor & Newton Watercolour Markers to draw in the details and the grass in front. Then I used my pan watercolor of Phthalo Yellow Green to go over the background lightly enough for the Washi tape to show through. Lastly, I outlined the snake with a black pen.

This didn’t take too long to do, but I should probably ice my shoulder now. I didn’t do much of anything this week – just lots of icing and resting. I hope all of you had a great week.

Donkeys in Pencil

Hello Friends!

Today I decided to do a rough drawing of a few donkeys. I will trace the outlines onto some watercolor paper tomorrow and do a painting of them.

I hope everyone is having a great week!

Butterfly in Pencil

Hello Friends!

This butterfly is called a Spotted Fritillary. I checked out a book from the library with huge pictures of butterflies and moths. The book is called “Butterfly” and is by Thomas Marent. I drew a couple more of them, but will be taking the book back soon. It is an oversized book…very big!

I hope everyone has had a great start to your week!

Goats in Pencil

Hello Friends!

Somehow I managed to get a connection on my phone today. Our satellite internet still isn’t fixed. If he can’t fix it today, it will probably be later this week if they have to relocate the dish.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. We did a lot of reading!

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! πŸ˜€
