White Tiger in Pencil

Hello Friends!

Yesterday, I drew this white tiger in pencil. I haven’t been drawing or painting much lately. But today INKTOBER is starting!

Have a wonderful day! πŸ˜€

Kitties in Pencil

Hello Friends!

This week I took a break from doing any painting or mixed media. I have been reading a lot and exercising. But in the evenings I still did some drawing. These are all kittens I practiced drawing in different poses. But the top right one is a sketch of our grown cat named Wampus. She sat on the floor with her legs and tail all tucked up under her. So I knelt on the floor in front of her to sketch her. I think she was posing for me, ha ha!!

I am not sure what I am going to start working on this weekend, but I have a few ideas.

Wolf in Pencil on Toned Paper

Hello Friends!

Here is another wolf I drew in graphite pencil on toned paper. Lately, I have been reading and working out more than doing art. But I want to start on something new today. I hope you are all doing well.

White Wolf Pup in Pencil

Hello Friends!

A few days ago I decided to do a little sketch of a white wolf pup. I used this toned paper, because it is the notebook with my other wolf drawings in it. I still don’t know how I feel about drawing on this color of paper yet. It’s easy enough to sketch on, but using pencil on it is something I am not sure I like. I haven’t sketched anything in colored pencil or pen on it, though. So maybe I will give that a try soon.

Have a wonderful day! πŸ™‚

Hello Friends!

So… here’s a monkey for your Tuesday!Β

On Sunday I decided to do a little sketching. I wanted to get a feel for monkeys which I don’t believe I have ever sketched. I like the way it looks like it has a hat on!Β

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! πŸ™‚

Insects in Pencil

Hello Friends!

A couple of mornings ago I decided to sketch these bees, butterflies, a grasshopper, and a ladybug. I checked out some books about bees from the library which also had great pictures of the other insects.

So it was fun to just sketch again. I have mostly been reading a lot and playing the piano again. Everything is harder with the cataracts in my eyes. But in a few weeks I will be getting the one in my left eye removed! And then it will take time to adjust to the artificial lens, but hopefully, I will be able to do my art more comfortably.

Iberian Lynx in Pencil

Hello Friends!

Last night I finished drawing this Iberian Lynx. This was a fun “big cat” to draw!

I find that drawing animal fur is actually relaxing. I used to think it felt frustrating and monotonous years ago when I first began drawing, though. But I enjoy drawing furry animals so much that now I just find it a soothing challenge.

I hope you are all doing well. I also hope today is the first day of healing for the United States of America!

Cheetah in Pencil

Hello Friends!

Last night I began drawing this Cheetah! I finished it just now after working on it for a few hours this afternoon. Lots of spots!

I think he is a bit too tall, but with those legs he may be able to run even faster, ha ha!

So this is my third drawing in my series of wild cats. So far I have drawn a lion head and a tiger (but no bear), oh my!

I will probably be working on my class lessons tomorrow or this weekend. I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy.

Have a wonderful day! πŸ˜€

Eyes in Pencil

Hello Friends!

This is for the second class this week in Paint Your Heart & Soul. Our instructor was Saskia van Drunen.

She showed us how to use Strathmore Toned Tan paper. The tan paper is for showing the midtones. We only used a mechanical pencil which I don’t normally draw with. To add the shading we used a blending stump which I never seem to think of when I am drawing either. But I will now! Lastly, we used a white charcoal pencil for the lightest areas. Unfortunately, my whitest areas look bluish in the photo, because it is a foggy day outside which affects the light.

The things I liked about this lesson were:

1) She showed us that eyes are all different shapes depending on the person’s expression.

2) She pointed out that eyelashes look more realistic when they are drawn in clumps, not all the way around the eye.

I enjoyed learning how to draw expressive eyes with Saskia. She explained things very well.

Have a wonderful day! πŸ˜€

Tiger in Pencil

Hello Friends!

Here is the tiger I drew the other day! This is one of the most challenging animals I have ever tried to draw! I think I probably ought to have drawn it in a bigger sketch book. But the reference photo does show it sitting on some kind of concrete slab I think. And it doesn’t show the whole tail either. But I am not sure its proportions are correct. It looks kind of funny to me, ha ha!!

Have a wonderful day! πŸ˜€
