Beach Mixed Media

Hello Friends!

Someone on Facebook asked me how I did the water in my flamingo painting. So I tried to sort of duplicate the process. but of course it came out different. And since I mainly only had the bottom left corner of the 9×12 piece of canvas paper left, I used some watercolors to add little grass mounds with a tiny brush. Then I dipped that same brush in some Van Dyck Brown and pulled back on the brush with my index finger to splatter some sand on the beach.

This was fun and didn’t take long at all. I find it difficult sometimes to explain my process, because I don’t always remember what I did afterwards! I used to write down the colors I used in my paintings and sometimes even what size brushes! But now, that just feels like a lot of interruption to my brain while I’m in the “zone.”

Anyway, I do always feel encouraged when someone says something I did looks amazing and asks how I did it!

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! 😁
