Ballerinas in Mixed Media
Hello Friends!
I don’t know if you will remember or not, but I have posted these ballerina poses before (I think.) But this time I added a few things!
I drew them in charcoal on a thick piece of paper. Then I used my Arteza brush pens to color them and the background. Next I used a stamp with the word joy in Japanese. And lastly I copied the song called “Waltz” from Swan Lake. Then I cut out two stanzas from it and glued them on. Lastly, I drew around the dancers and the music with charcoal.
I enjoyed creating this! It didn’t take very long either. I like the texture that these brush pens make when I swipe them on the paper!
Now I am going to attempt to do the main and mini lessons from my class called “Paint Your Heart and Soul.” Hopefully I can post them tomorrow.
Have a wonderful day! 😀
Mental Health Recovery
Hello Friends,
Recently I found this man’s blog. His name is James Edgar Skye. I wanted to share this post of his with you to encourage anyone who struggles with any type of mental illness. The road is tough for us, but when we get help, take medication if we need it, and have support, we CAN accomplish our goals.
I have been taking a correspondence course through the Institute of Children’s Literature since about August. I am halfway through it now! My sixth assignment is to write a story using the character I created in my fifth assignment. So my wheels have been spinning as I read other writer’s stories in my text.
I know most of you know me as a watercolor/drawing artist, however, when I began this blog over five years ago, I was focusing on writing. The blog helped to motivate me. I have wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. However, I have started many pieces, such as my memoir and a novel, that I have yet to finish. That’s okay. Right now I want to learn to write short stories for teenagers and write about serious issues that many of them face daily such as depression, anxiety, cutting, and various addictions.
So I encourage you to read James’s post as well and be encouraged. Struggling with mental illness is difficult, but we can still achieve our goals with a lot of hard work. Encouraging each other along the way is also key.
Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug! 🙂
Thanks for sharing your life with us, James. 🙂 Please read on to get to know James.
Yesterday I introduced a new series on the blog. My real life journal entries during some of my toughest times. My Mental Illness Journal. Today I want to talk about goals in mental health recovery. What Are Your Mental Health Recovery Goals? In the life with a mental illness, it can seem difficult to set […]
Icon for Hire’s “The Grey” and “Get Well”
I’m not sure who did the artwork in the first video, but the band singing is Icon for Hire. They are primarily a rock back according to lead singer Ariel Bloomer. Some people classify them as punk rock. You can read about them if you are interested on
Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icon_for_Hire
I have been listening to their two albums called “Icon for Hire” and “Scripted” for months now. This young woman’s voice is so beautiful. Her lyrics are so raw and honest. This is what I love about these kinds of bands. They have reached the point where they are not afraid to be themselves, be true to themselves, and be honest about who they are.
Ariel also designs and makes all of her own clothes which just shows how creative she is! She plays the piano so elegantly, too. I think she is a true artist who deserves a spotlight. God has been using her to heal some recent hurts in me. And although I love all of their songs, these are a couple of my favorites! Just another side of me you may not have known about. I am willing to listen to just about anything and make a judgment for myself, not just listen to other people’s opinions and trust them without seeing for myself. Some Christians may think this is foolish thinking. Oh well. That’s who I am.
Have a great day and give someone you love a big hug! 🙂
Here is one of their most mellow songs that I love, love, love!
And here is one of their most rocking songs!! I have been in “recovery” from many things for years even though I know I am forgiven for so much. But sometimes people STAY STUCK, saying they want to get well, but really don’t. I’m not sure what was in Ariel’s mind when she wrote these lyrics, but to me it is speaking from my heart that “I meant it when I said, I wanna get well……” STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF AND YOUR BELIEFS….ALWAYS!!!!
