Bookwarm Baby

Hello Friends!

Yesterday I painted this baby who just can’t get enough of his books! I loved creating this!

First I drew my design onto a piece of hot pressed watercolor paper. Then I glued a few small pieces of paper down in the background and painted it with a mix of Quinacridone Magenta and white acrylic inks. Once I chose that color, I decided to go with shades of red-violets, blue-greens and yellow-oranges which is a triad color scheme. This was challenging and a lot of fun! I also knew i wanted him to be African American, so the skin tones were a challenge as well!

What was fun, too, was putting the book he’s holding upside down, ha ha! And my little bookworm is surrounded by some of his favorite books including: “Goodnight Moon,” “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?,” “Hop on Pop,” and a few others in his little basket of books.

Lastly, I added some washi tape, stamped some circles and wrote in some letters and numbers.

I am really enjoying doing these “Bookworm” mixed media pieces. I am planning to do at least two more!

Have a wonderful day! 😀

About whitefeatherfloating

When I began this blog I was simply going to share my writing. However, after being part of the blogging world for quite some time now, I decided to begin sharing my artwork. Patsy's Creative Corner will always have my artwork and some writing, but I also created a blog called "My Crazy Life!" in order to simply write my short autobiography and hopefully get some feedback on it as I go. However, it is a very slow project right now. You can find it here: https://spreadingmy2wings.wordpress.com Thanks for visiting! :)

  1. At least he knows what a book is and is making an effort. In 34 years as a middle school and high school teacher probably over 50% of the teens had ever read a single book cover to cover.

  2. You really need to do a children’s book, Patsy. These are great!❤️
