Portrait Mapping!
Hello Friends!
This was a fun exercise! Our instructor for Let’sFaceIt2020 this week is Melanie Rivers again. She provided a black and white photo to show us how to map shadows and highlights for a portrait. So we only used three colors: Burnt Umber, Payne’s Gray and Titanium White. I used acrylics on Bristol paper.
She did this exercise with us to show us how to draw the shapes of the different tones: darkest, mid-tones, and lightest. This didn’t take very long and was pretty fun!
Also, I decided to go ahead and purchase Let’s Face It for 2021. I have been learning so much this year, and it has been so challenging. Plus, it has really helped me stay focused on portrait art for an extended time. But I think what I have loved most is the variety of teachers, styles, and mediums I have learned about this year. I can hardly believe we only have nine more weeks left!
Have a wonderful day! 😀
