Fairy Journal Cover

Hello Friends!

Today I made the cover (front and back) for my fairy journal. First, to make the actual journal, I had to fold and sew my pieces of watercolor paper together. Then I glued cut cardboard pieces on the front and back. Next I glued the pink ribbon on to the outside of the binding and covered the whole thing with the flowery wrapping paper and tied the ribbon in a bow before gluing it to the side. Then after a few attempts, I finally painted a little girl fairy in a circle with watercolors, cut the circle out, and glued her to the cover.

I then put pink flowery washi tape around the circle. Lastly, I used a stencil to draw and cut a butterfly out of some yellow polka dotted wrapping paper and glued it in the upper left-hand corner. I also cut a few tiny green leaves from some other washi tape and accented the butterfly.

I think it came out okay, and now I feel anxious to get started painting inside of it! One of the first projects after making the journal is to write a little letter to our fairy as an invitation for her or him to visit us.

This workshop is really stretching my imagination for sure! But it is pretty fun to do and to see what others do as well.

Here is a close-up of my fairy.

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! 😀
