Portrait in Mixed Media Finished!

Hello Friends!

Yesterday I decided to finish this portrait. I added more color to her hair, because I didn’t like the dark streaks after all. Then I painted some Liquitex Irridescent Gold acrylics into her hair and on her back.

I also changed her eye color to blue, because I think her eyes stand out more with all of the turquoise surrounding her.

After that I used a small stiff paintbrush to dip into the irridescent gold and pulled back on the bristles with my thumb to splatter dots of gold in the background.

Lastly, I also added a little detail to her sea turtle tattoo. He has a hat on with the bill flipped back. He is a character I created a few years ago when I took the children’s book illustration course.

I can’t believe how many different types of art and writing classes I have completed  in the last five years. It has surely been an adventure! I have had so many talented instructors and lots of encouragement. And I am filled with the joy of learning and growing.

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! 😀

  2. I really like this one. You’ve done a great job. I like how the blue eyes stand out so brightly against the red hair.
