Portrait of a Grounded Woman
Yesterday I painted this on 10″x14″ Aqvarelle Arches 140 lb. hot pressed watercolor paper. I used acrylics in thin layers.
I took a short class from Melanie Rivers called Feet on the Ground: Soul Grounding. She will be one of our instructors in Let’sFaceIt2020 at some point, but this is a class she offers on her website at https://www.melanierivers.ca/
I love Melanie’s calm voice and clear instructions. I was even able to download the videos so I can do this again sometime.
I used different colors than she did in her demonstration, but I wanted to emphasize the woman’s hoodie. The class is called Feet on the Ground, because the first thing I did was paint the bottoms of my feet brown, and stepped on the paper. But my footprints got covered up more than I thought they would. So I know I will do this again at some point. But I love the way it turned out and I learned a lot about painting shadows and highlights on a face. This was relaxing and fun!
Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! 😀
