Cobra in Mixed Media

Hello Friends!

After a great deal of thinking about what I wanted to do on this Washi Tape-covered canvas, I decided to paint an animal I have never done before…the Cobra! I think snakes are beautiful creatures even though in the boonies where we live, I have had to kill a few rattlesnakes through the years. But that was when our dog was a puppy and our children were very young. I haven’t seen any in years, though, which I am thankful for!

So for this one, after I drew the snake in pencil, I used my pan watercolors, then used my Winsor & Newton Watercolour Markers to draw in the details and the grass in front. Then I used my pan watercolor of Phthalo Yellow Green to go over the background lightly enough for the Washi tape to show through. Lastly, I outlined the snake with a black pen.

This didn’t take too long to do, but I should probably ice my shoulder now. I didn’t do much of anything this week – just lots of icing and resting. I hope all of you had a great week.

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! 😀
