Fairies & Fauna Mixed Media

Hello Friends!

This is my mixed media piece with the fairies. I am not sure how well you can see them, though. Also, the background is a little more green than I wanted it, but I think it helps the rose stand out.

The rose is from a photo I took in our yard years ago, so I decided to draw it onto this piece and then applied Golden’s Absorbent Ground. Absorbent Ground can be painted on top of other mediums which then allows me to paint over it with watercolors. I can also use it to apply whitewashes. I think I am in love with Absorbent Ground!

I think the next thing I am going to do is a watercolor of the goat I drew awhile back. So that should be fun. I need to work on something less involved for a bit.

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! 😀

When I began this blog I was simply going to share my writing. However, after being part of the blogging world for quite some time now, I decided to begin sharing my artwork. Patsy's Creative Corner will always have my artwork. Thanks for visiting! :)

  4. I think real creativity becomes evident when people see different things in the artist’s work. I was quite surprised when you mentioned there is a rose in the picture. Of course I saw the rose after you said it, but at first I saw a sheep. The big mushroom is its head (the stem of the big one is the nose) and the little mushrooms are the ears. Do you see it now? I think it’s quite amazing that when I think “rose” I can see the rose and when I think “sheep” I see the sheep.
