Fairies & Fauna Mixed Media
Hello Friends!
This is my mixed media piece with the fairies. I am not sure how well you can see them, though. Also, the background is a little more green than I wanted it, but I think it helps the rose stand out.
The rose is from a photo I took in our yard years ago, so I decided to draw it onto this piece and then applied Golden’s Absorbent Ground. Absorbent Ground can be painted on top of other mediums which then allows me to paint over it with watercolors. I can also use it to apply whitewashes. I think I am in love with Absorbent Ground!
I think the next thing I am going to do is a watercolor of the goat I drew awhile back. So that should be fun. I need to work on something less involved for a bit.
Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! 😀

Patsy, I appreciate how you’re working on something every day. That’s dedication and that’s how we build our skills. Thanks for sharing; it’s so inspirational!

Well, almost every day, lol! I do have to refrain so my arm can get a break at least one day a week! 😉 But thanks very much for your kind words, Tiffany! I am glad you are inspired! How is your writing going?

It’s going in fits and starts, but seems to be an upward trajectory. Thanks!

Well, that’s good! I’m sure that your new grandchild is “helping” with that! 😉 Lol!!

It’s lovely, and searching for the fairies seems right, somehow!

Thanks, Cynthia. I am going to try to do a different fairyland again soon I think, but probably without a flower. I’m glad you like it.

I love this a lot! I’m thinking it would make lovely pillows for the couch. I love the pattern you created Patsy ❤

You know I love color. I like to put opposites on the color wheel together. That’s so fun to me. I really love the bright ones. ❤

I do, too! I have been doing a lot of purple and yellow, and blue and orange together. Those are my favorite complementary combos. 😁

I think real creativity becomes evident when people see different things in the artist’s work. I was quite surprised when you mentioned there is a rose in the picture. Of course I saw the rose after you said it, but at first I saw a sheep. The big mushroom is its head (the stem of the big one is the nose) and the little mushrooms are the ears. Do you see it now? I think it’s quite amazing that when I think “rose” I can see the rose and when I think “sheep” I see the sheep.

Really, Anneli? That’s great! I will have to look for the sheep now! 😁
