Poppies in Acrylics

Hello Friends!

This painting was supposed to be my last mixed media flower painting. There is a collage underneath all the paint, but as I was trying to whitewash it before painting the flowers, it just didn’t look like I wanted it to. So it has a Paul Cezanne look to which isn’t a bad thing I guess.

The main thing I have learned from doing these mixed media pieces is not to use pieces for the collaging that are too dark. From now on, I am going to use much lighter colored papers!

Plus, for this painting, I didn’t draw this type of poppy very well either. I think I may try drawing and painting this type of poppy in watercolor next time.

In the meantime, I want to finish my fairies and fauna mixed media piece and then paint a goat I drew awhile back in watercolor. However, today I am going in for a massage!

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! 😀

When I began this blog I was simply going to share my writing. However, after being part of the blogging world for quite some time now, I decided to begin sharing my artwork. Patsy's Creative Corner will always have my artwork. Thanks for visiting! :)

  1. The petals really stand out, and have that crinkly look that poppies often have.
