Flower Mixed Media Preparations
Yesterday I spent a few very peaceful hours in my studio working on preparing two of six square canvases for what will eventually become flower paintings. This first canvas is going to be my sunflowers.
The first layer is the collage. Then I will use other various materials for more layers before “whitewashing” it. That is done so I can paint the flowers on in watercolor last. It allows the background to shine through but not be the focal point.
Here is the second piece. I think this one will be my Crocuses since they are lavender and white.
I used my liquid chalk markers to write the words. (I really like those markers!) Miriam Schulman uses something else for writing on hers. She also shows how to do the drips. But you would have to take her class to learn how since I can’t give away her secrets.
I am learning all of this in her class “GARDEN PARTY.” You can find out more about her and all the classes she teaches at http://theinspirationplace.net
I still have many other projects in mind to do! So to get myself more relaxed and limber, I started doing Yoga at home last week. I can’t believe how much it is helping my arthritis! I light a scented candle and put on soft instrumental music, and I’m good to go.
Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! 😀
