Meditative Collage
Hello Friends!
This past week I have watched several different artists teach what they like doing best as a part of Sketchbook Revival. I have not been able to watch all of them yet, but today I watched Toni Burt.
She loves drawing basic face shapes and then painting, collaging, writing, etc. on them. Her demonstration was fun to watch. However, I watched it while riding my stationary bike. Then later I did this!
The Chinese symbol is my rough attempt at writing the Chinese word for calm. I haven’t been practicing any calligraphy lately, though. So it is rough.
By the way, this is NOT a self-portrait of me physically, but it is a portrayal of all I was thinking about while I worked. It was a very meditative process.
Lately, I have been branching out of my comfort zone and am enjoying it immensely! I feel like I am seeing new ways to do art and am really soaring in my spirit.
Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug! 😀

Hi. This collage is very cool. It’s amazing how many things we can think about at the same time or one after another after another. I express my artistry through writing. I’ll have to think about this – maybe I could do a word balloon as my form of collage. Have a great day.

Thanks so much, Theresa! I write some, too, but have been more focused on my art lately.
I think a word balloon collage is a fantastic idea! Have fun! You have a great day, too!

A card size version of this would make a great greeting card of any sort (birthday, anniversary, whatever).

It’s a lot of work to make them individually, but why not do one and have it photocopied onto card paper. I’ve done it with a simple design in black and white, but no reason you couldn’t do some colour copies. Even if you made them for yourself to use for any occasion, without a pre-determined message written on them.

Well, yeah, I could never duplicate that anyway! I have 5×7 cards I had printed several years ago of a few of my paintings. The place I went to charges for a scan and prints a minimum of 12. But they are a a little pricey. The cards a good quality printing on good paper and come with envelopes, though. I haven’t had any more done yet, though. My friend Jill wants me to do some sea turtle cards. 😁
Maybe I will check at a couple of other printer shops. We have a copy machine but ink cartrdges are expensive, too.

If you can get a volume price from the printers, you’ll have enough cards to do for the rest of your days, but maybe you can also put a few in some of the little shops to sell.

I have inquired about that. They take 20% commission. Plus they have to approve of them.

And first you have the cost of printing … that really cuts into your profit.

Yeah, that’s right. I have been choosing to take online classes for a while instead. 😉
