Art Journal Watercolors
Hello Friends!
I completely forgot about these crazy critters I doodled earlier in the week! These are in my small homemade art journal. I believe I used my Prismacolor watercolor pencils for these. So the mouse’s eyes are a little smudged.
This mouse is called a Fat Dormouse. It is called “fat” because it goes on a feeding frenzy before it hibernates for the winter. It is “found from northern Spain east through Central Europe and into Russia. It is also found on the islands of Sardina, Corsica, Sicily, Crete, and Corfu, and in Turkey and Iran.”
The crazy feathered critter is called a Hoatzin. It is a “unique bird found in northeastern South America, particularly in the rainforests formed by the Amazon and Orinoco rivers.” These birds live in colonies. They can also SWIM! They use their feet and wings to swim so they can escape vipers!
In case you’re wondering, I have these and MANY other wild creatures like them in a set of books we used years ago while homeschooling the kids. They are called “Wildlife Explorer.” I never finished getting all the cards to complete the set, but we got two binders full, so it was enough! I can’t find a date of publication either! I only know they were published by International Masters Publishers AB. So I am not sure if they are still available. The kids and I loved looking through them for hours, though! We all love animals. So eventually, there will be more to come. But I probably won’t use the pencils every time.
Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! 😀
