Baby Chicks Watercolor

Hello Friends!

Happy Sunday to you all. Here are some baby chicks I painted in watercolor. This was a challenging painting to do. I don’t often work with yellow being the color of the  focus subject(s), so this was a learning experience which I thoroughly enjoyed. I plan to apply what I am learning to my upcoming new sea turtle paintings.

I do love the complementary colors of yellow and purple, though. My other favorites are blue and orange. Honestly, red and green remind me too much of Christmas.

Just in case you don’t know what complementary colors are, they are “pairs of colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel.” This quote is from the first book about color that I bought years ago. It is called COLOR by Betty Edwards. I refer back to it often which has made it a valuable book in my small collection of art books.

I am enjoying the new Facebook art groups that I joined recently. One is through Miriam Schulman’s classes. Her website is http://www.theinspirationplace.net.

I have met some incredibly talented and lovely people there. And it is amazing to watch Miriam’s demonstration videos. I am having fun. Learning more about something I love is truly rewarding.

If you are learning a new skill, share it here! I would love to hear about your experience.

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug. 😀
