Exploring Molding Paste

Hello Friends!

I recently bought some Golden brand Medium Texture Molding Paste to explore. Remember my mantra for the year is EXPLORE? It sure is fun. Anyway, I used a small flat canvas for this ocean scene. I love the way you can create some cool peaks, valleys, lines, and curves with this medium. I applied it to the canvas first with a palette knife; then I painted over most of it with a brush and acrylics. I also mixed it with a couple of the colors before applying it. The thing I like most about it is the plant on the left where I also pressed a porous sponge into the paint. I love this effect. It can be seen better when you make the picture larger.

This next one of mountains in snow is actually the first one I did.

I realized I painted everything bigger than I wanted, though. I did this one in my art journal. I didn’t plan the scene. Most of the time I avoid planning when I am playing with a new medium.

This is sort of what our mountains look like right now! We have more rain coming in this week which fills the mountains with snow when it’s cold enough.

I hope you all are having a great new year and exploring new territory in your lives as well. I love a good challenge myself.

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! 😀

  4. I like your sea and mountain textures with that medium – reminds me of the way we can sometimes use Gesso?
And in the mountain painting I was drawn to the lower right with the brown and color – but I liked it all – and in the sea – the little fish are colorful and cute
