Toy Box Sea Turtle Finished!
Hello Friends,
I am done with my first sea turtle in acrylics! I ended up working on it some more last night. I worked on the turtle a little and added the foliage. Then this morning I finished the turtle and removed the masking tape from around the edges. I am very glad to be done! I took the picture of it outside so it was on the sidewalk. The cut-out part is one of the handles as this was a short side piece.
I think I only have one more piece of the toy box to paint. There are two pieces left, but one of them has what I already painted on the front of it when we first put it together about 19 years ago.
We got the toy box for our son when he was a little over two years old. So I stenciled a teddy bear and hearts and his first and middle names on it. So that will stay the way it is. I don’t even want to “touch it up.” I guess I will take a picture of that and post it last.
Eventually, I will try to find some kind of hangers for these so I can put them on the walls in his old room (which is now my writing/workout room) when I am done with the last one.
This has been a challenging and fun project. I have really enjoyed doing these. Thanks for everyone’s support in the blogosphere! I really appreciate all of you.
Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug. 🙂

It turned out spectacular!!! If your son isn’t blown away by it now, a few more years will cultivate more appreciation. It takes them awhile sometimes. I love this painting! I hope you keep doing it.

Thank you very much! I appreciate that. He will like them; he is just not really into art which is funny because he has dated three different artists!

Thanks Anneli! Maybe someday if I am still painting when either of my kids might have a kid, I’ll buy them the same kind of toy box and do it again only paint what they like at the time! Ha, ha! (If I’m not too OLD by then that is!) I am hoping I will be able to paint for the rest of my life like Georgia O’Keeffe!! 😉
