Australian Sea Dragon
Hello Friends!
I just wanted to start this week off with a little watercolor of a different type of sea dragon. As you can see, the Australian Sea Dragon only has a few leafy appendages. Down along the top of a sea dragon’s tail is a dorsal fin that you can see through. In fact, you can’t really see their pectoral fins here which are located on the sides of their necks.
The dorsal fin helps push them through the water. Even though the sea dragon beats this fin quickly, the dragon still moves extremely slow. When it isn’t swimming, it floats through the water and the pectoral fins act as rudders helping them steer. Pretty cool sea creatures I think!
I drew this one with my Prismacolor watercolor pencils.
I am planning to draw some more sharks and some sea horses next. But I also have a story to write for my class and for my last assignment I will be writing an article about the leafy sea dragon! So off to the library I go today after I have lunch with a good friend!
Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug! 🙂

Thanks, Sheila. You’d think drawing seaweed would be easy…not for me. I’m glad you like it. I checked out a ellyfish book while I was there. Every time I see them I think of you. 😀💜

You’re welcome. I just noticed I said “ellyfish” instead of jellyfish in my previous post! LOL!

Hahah – I didn’t even notice that – must have had jellyfish on the brain

Thanks, Jill. I did! I had a great mini pizza and salad for lunch and actually got to visit with two friends. I stopped by a different friend’s house who wanted to give me some fresh zucchini out of her garden. So we visited for a bit before I went to lunch. 😀♥️🐢xo

Well, I try. I always have something in mind to draw or paint. But writing is so much harder! 😉🐢♥️
