Ballet Shoes Watercolors
Hello Friends,
Sometimes I just get bored working on sea turtles or animals and have to do something different for a change. What??? Yes it is true. For a long time I have had this idea to paint some ballet dancers’ shoes in watercolor. These were pretty quick sketches I did earlier in the week. I didn’t use a good grade of paper so they look a little washed out but it was just practice. I am also going to have more ballet dancers to post soon.
I have still been working on my article assignment and plan to turn it in this week. I asked for a two week extension, because I have been having trouble deciding exactly how I want to approach my favorite topic of sea turtles. Picking one thing to write about them has been difficult! Plus, writing about them on a level for young children isn’t so easy either! So when I feel stuck, I move on to something completely different to do which is usually art. I am finding that I love drawing and painting much more than writing.
I have also been struggling with a long bout of depression that came on a couple of weeks ago, but I don’t really want to go into the “whys” of it; I’m not sure I could pinpoint them anyway. However, I am on the upward climb out of this hole.
On top of that we learned this week that an old friend of ours was killed in the line of duty in his job as a security guard. He was 70 years old and was trying to help a woman who was getting attacked in a parking garage where he worked. He was beaten by the attacker and his injuries were too severe for him to survive. It is very sad. Karl was a sweet man. He moved away a few years ago but didn’t keep in touch with us. I have missed him since he left, but am glad left this world trying to do the right thing and he is finally resting in peace with his Savior.
Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug. 🙂

I love the ballet shoes! You do beautiful work. I understand the depression. It comes in with the time change or the shift in planet alignment and we struggle to keep up and let the body adapt. I just take a couple of cozy days and then all is well again. I am so sorry to hear about your friend. He did a wonderful thing on his way to his next journey. I hope you feel well enough soon to get your assignment completed and take some down time to draw more pretty things. Have a wonderfilled Thanksgiving.

Thank you very much. Yes, I often have connected my depressive moods with changes and seasonal change. Fall is usually my favorite time of year. I did manage to take a pleasant walk with my husband yesterday in the cool air and sun. It seemed to help a lot. I think I am going to tackle my assignment today and get it finished so I don’t have it hanging over my head during the holiday weekend. I am already working on another ballerina painting but the faces are not turning out well. You have a “wonderfilled” Thanksgiving also!

Art has it’s own timing. Just let it come to you. A walk is essential everyday somehow. It’s pouring right now but the rain will slow and I will walk my way up the hill to keep my spirits up. It clears the mind for creativity as well.

Oh Patsy! What a bad time you’ve had! I’m so sorry about the death of your friend – my prayers are with you all. I am also sorry you’ve been depressed recently – I’m glad it’s lifting a little now. Lovely ballet shoes!

Thanks Clare. I am starting to wonder if I should be recording how bad and how often these episodes are occurring you know? I don’t think it has to do with the holidays or my brother either…we never spent holidays together in our adult life. Just saw each other in passing at our parents when they were still here.

I think that would be a very good idea. Record what you have been doing, what worries you and also what foods you have been eating in case there are additives you react badly to. Weather sometimes affects people too. I hope you find out what is triggering these episodes xx

Yeah it has Tiffany but God and my dear family always pull me through. I think I am on the upswing now. Thanks for your sweet compliment. One of these days I will finish Lesson 3. Although I have no small children in my life anymore to observe…don’t know how I’m going to do Lesson 4. Yes, there is always very much to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving to you too Tiffany.

love the ballet shoes and lower legs – the first one is my fav and the shoes to the left – that far left one has the perfect arch ridge.
so nice, and I guess it is good to change it up – eh?
and sorry to hear you had a depressive phase – sending good thoughts your way – and glad it has passed or is passing….
and sorry about the friend passing – sounds like a HERO!!!
