“Brown” Sea Turtle Watercolor

Hello Friends,

Yesterday I said I would be posting the sea turtle doodle I finished last night.  I had already worked on the background a few days ago and started it at my desk where I can use my watercolors out of the tubes.  However, last night I decided to use my Prismacolor watercolor pencils to finish this one instead.  It is more brown than I’d wanted, and not even the colors I had originally planned for, but the first one I did with this turtle’s pose the other day was such a disaster I could never show it to anyone.  Trust me; it’s very bad!  So here is a sea turtle that is brown, but that would not be classified as its ‘type’.  I think it is a Green Sea Turtle which is fine, because many of their shells do have a lot of brown in them.  They are not called ‘green’ for their shell color but for the color of the fat inside their bodies.

So anyway if you have a new name for this one, write it in the comments.  Thanks.

Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug!  🙂

  1. I never knew that’s why they’re called green turtles…interesting. I’m loving that blue eye!

  2. That was an interesting bit of info about the green fat in a turtle. I didn’t know that, but it makes sense, considering what they eat. A name? Our childhood pet red-eared turtle was named Georgie and I can’t see a turtle of any kind or size without thinking he is named Georgie. I guess if it’s a girl, she could be Georgina. We LOVED our Georgie.
