Pond Turtle and Sea Turtle Doodles

Pond Turtle Doodle
Hello Friends,
Last night I was watching t.v. and decided to doodle with my Prismacolor watercolor pencils. I still struggle with making up drawings out of my head. This pond turtle, I’ll call him “Tucker,” decided to wear a hat on this hot summer day.
I have been concentrating more on writing for my class than doing art. I am currently working on a non-fiction piece that is supposed to be a description of a favorite place of mine from childhood. If any of you know anything about me, you know I don’t have many favorite places from back then, so it was tough to come up with one.
I decided to do a piece called “The Ballpark.” It was my favorite place to go when I lived in Georgia. I played softball for three years before we moved to Kentucky. Close by was the public swimming pool which was also where I loved to go most of the time in the summer. I chose to write about the ballpark, because I was able to come up with more description using the five senses…I think. 😉 I probably won’t share it here since it is an assignment, and I’m not sure about whether we are allowed to put our assignments on a blog. Perhaps I should find out.
Here’s another doodle I did last night experimenting with yellows and greens. You may have to shield your eyes for this one; it’s too bright for me. I could lift some yellow out, but it’s just a doodle, so it’s staying the way it is.

Bright Sea Turtle
Tomorrow I will post another 5×7 Sea Turtle I did, but I probably won’t be getting cards made from it. I don’t really care much for the color, but I would love to know what you think! I honestly don’t think it would be one that could sell. Until then…
Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug! 🙂

I love the name Tucker and his hat. Having fun is the most important part. Great doodles.

Thanks so much! And yes, I agree. I used to doodle in my teens while I talked to friends on the phone. I always drew little turtles with hats.

Thanks Jill. That’s how I used to draw land/pond turtles when I was in my teens. 🙂

Yes, Anneli, and for me right now, that’s what it’s all about. 🙂
