Cinderella Mice in Watercolor

Jack

Hello Friends!

Meet Jack and “Gus-Gus!” which Gus calls himself.   Most likely you’ve already “met” them if you’ve ever seen the Disney movie of Cinderella!  They are my favorite characters.  So I decided to find them online and print them out.  The pictures I found were quite a bit smaller (even though they look the same size here! Weird!) But I just painted by sight and enlarged them.  They aren’t proportioned exactly right, but that’s okay.  And I did their tails a little different.  I HAD FUN AND THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!  Ha, ha!  🙂

Anyway, as you can see, Gus is much larger and a little lopsided, but what was fun was trying to match the colors. Also, I painted on different paper than I usually do.  I found a Watercolor Block of Aqvartelle Arches paper, Hot Pressed, 10×14.  Hot Pressed paper is smooth so there is no “tooth” to it.  I prefer watercolor paper that has more texture or tooth, but this is good paper for trying stuff out on I think.  There is a lot of extra room on this page, (I did a close-up shot of them) so I will be adding a couple of other mice sometime this week.  I love the female mice who do the sewing of Cinderella’s dress.  Their voices are so cute!

This past Thursday I went to a watercolor class that I plan to keep attending.  My instructor is fun, pleasant and demonstrates technique very well!  I also met three other delightful people who are students.  It was a small class, a lot of fun, and will be my Thursday outing each week for as long as I can go.  The price is very affordable right now especially since we have no kids living here to feed and clothe at the moment!

And of course I am still working on my second children’s story and will be starting a new sea turtle this week sometime.

Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug!  🙂
