Hamster Watercolor
Hello Friends!
This past Saturday we celebrated our daughter Grace’s 18th birthday. This was my gift to her. I had saved a printout of an old photo of her hamster she used to have. It was a Roborovski hamster named Artemis. Unfortunately, she wasn’t with us long enough. She was so cute! Here she was eating a carrot.
We are very proud of Grace. I feel bad, though, that in the busyness of going to a Mongolian BBQ place for dinner, we never took any birthday pictures! I don’t know how we forgot. 😦
Grace has worked hard the last two years on catching up on her Math and Science so she can graduate this year. The charter school she takes classes at has a flexible schedule which allows us to have to take her to two classes a week and everything else she does is given to her by her facilitator. She is doing well, and all I have to do is take her to her classes and facilitator meetings since she isn’t driving quite yet. I am not really having to teach anymore which has freed me up to concentrate on my art and writing. She is planning on joining the California Conservation Corps. soon after she graduates.
It is hard to believe our kids are grown already. Time has gone by way too fast!!! I am thankful for the children we have, though, because they are growing into responsible adults which is a blessing.
Have a wonderful day, and give someone you love a big hug! 🙂

Love the painting Patsy and the story behind it. yes life goes by in a minute and we forget to take the photo’s but sometimes thats okay as we are living full in that moment and we have our memories. I hope Grace had a lovely day. My kids are only teens and I know it will go fast. I can see the spark of independence in them already.

Thank you, Kath! I was thinking of doing it again but a little darker or in acrylics maybe. She likes it and did have a good birthday that day. It does go by very fast. I am getting ready for an empty nest if she ends up joining the California Conservation Corps. in the summer. She will want to live in town so she won’t have to commute. But first she has to get her driver’s license! She got her permit but needs to learn to drive now! 🙂 Well, enjoy your kids even through any “awkward” stages they go through!
