Baby Sea Turtle Kicking Back
Hello Friends,
Here is an interesting “pose” of a baby sea turtle that I don’t think I had ever come across before. I don’t know who the photographer is, but wow, I am glad they took this picture! No, he isn’t really kicking back and watching the sunset…or is he?
Sea turtle hatchlings have to run so fast to get to the water, before birds snatch them, crabs pull them down into their hidey-holes or some other animal grabs them, that they just fall over themselves! They are literally running for their lives! It’s fun to watch how fast they run toward the sea after they climb out of the deep hole that their mother laid them in and covered them with sand. So out of the many many baby sea turtles that hatch and actually make it out of the hole they were laid in, not very many make it all the way to the ocean. And even then they can get eaten by other sea creatures before they get to grow up. The life of a sea turtle isn’t easy, that’s for sure! So I am thankful for all of the ones who do make it and get to grow up and reproduce. I am especially thankful for injured ones who are rescued by all of the great organizations out there who specialize in rehabilitating injured sea turtles.
Here is the cute photo:
And my attempt to paint it without tracing it. Yikes! I’ll have to do it again. But anyway, she still gets a name!
So meet Kelly who’s just kickin’ back and soaking up the evening air as the sun goes down. Friends, relax! The weekend is here!
Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug! 🙂
