Happy Watercolor Accident!

Hello Friends!

Well, this is what came from a happy accident yesterday when I decided to explore a few new colors of paint I bought the other day.  A much bigger unplanned painting!  This is what happened.

I had a small strip of watercolor paper that I was going to test the new colors on and do some mixing, just play around basically.  However, when I opened each tube, paint came GUSHING out!  Of course I didn’t want to waste it, so I let it fall into my paint pan, grabbed a big piece of paper that was all ready cut, and started playing around.

This painting does not exactly follow the rule of “thirds” anymore, because I had to cut off about a half inch of the top.  (It had the name of the paper imprinted in it.)  Ha, ha!  It was a scrap piece I was using for little stuff.  I also got the idea of the painting from a book I have that I haven’t looked at in a long time.  I kind of “stole” the boat from it.  I just thought it needed something in the water and at that point the little red boat in the book’s painting seemed like a good idea.

Anyway, I like the new colors.  They are Winsor & Newton’s “Intense Blue” and Grumbacher’s “Prussian Blue.”  I also bought Grumbacher’s “Thalo Crimson” which I didn’t realize I all ready had!!  So it turned out to be a fun accidental painting to do!  I used my 2″ brush which was fun in order to lay down more color at one time.  My husband commented that it was a HUGE brush!

So today I am going to keep working on the dog painting I also started yesterday, and maybe start on another couple of miniatures for my husband’s D&D game.  (After I go work out.)  I tend to get distracted from exercising when I get into all of these painting projects, but I have to keep my arm and shoulder in shape to do it!

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug!  🙂

About whitefeatherfloating

When I began this blog I was simply going to share my writing. However, after being part of the blogging world for quite some time now, I decided to begin sharing my artwork. Patsy's Creative Corner will always have my artwork and some writing, but I also created a blog called "My Crazy Life!" in order to simply write my short autobiography and hopefully get some feedback on it as I go. However, it is a very slow project right now. You can find it here: https://spreadingmy2wings.wordpress.com Thanks for visiting! :)

  1. Oh no! But what was thought to be a disaster, turned into a work of art. It’s beautiful, Patsy. I love the color choices. Take care of that shoulder and enjoy your weekend! xo

    • Thanks, Jill! Yes, I couldn’t believe how much paint came pouring out of those tubes and so fast! I was glad to be able to just use it quickly! And yes, definitely taking care of my shoulder! We have some nice weather today but it’s a littler colder. 🙂 Enjoy your weekend, too, Jill! xoxo

  2. Gorgeous accident. The boat of course, but that sky! Wow!

    • Thank you! Do you mean the boat is a gorgeous accident? Ha, ha! I haven’t been doing landscapes as much as I used to. I still haven’t gotten skies in some of previous work the way I wanted them. So when I’m done with a couple of projects that may be what I am going to concentrate on!
