I am sure everyone is familiar with the story of “Sleeping Beauty.” The wicked Maleficent curses Beauty into sleeping from her 16th birthday on until she is awakened by “true love’s kiss.”
Today I took myself to see the new movie of “Maleficent.” Wow, is the story ever different from what we have been previously told. I enjoyed this story immensely. I am amazed at writers nowadays who can give an old fairy tale, even though it is a classic, so many twists and turns that it is a whole new story altogether! I really don’t want to tell you anything about the movie, because anything I say that is different from the Sleeping Beauty tale is going to be a spoiler.
So I say, JUST GO SEE IT! AND SEE IT ON THE BIG SCREEN!! The special effects won’t be the same on a small screen, although, I am planning on getting this movie as soon as it is available to buy on DVD.
I think what sold me on it was the fact that Angelina Jolie plays Maleficent. I think she is an extraordinary actress, and she shows much emotion in this movie.
I’m glad I waited until it had been out for awhile, too. It is so nice to go to the theater when there are only a few people there. Beating the crowd is always worth the wait for me.
Last week my daughter and I saw “The Fault in our Stars.” We had both read the book, she several times, but in this case I enjoyed the movie more which is rare for me. Books are awesome when they are written well. I just didn’t like John Greene’s style, but that’s just me. She loves his books. Hey, I’m just glad she loves to read!
Anyway, the actors that were cast for The Fault in our Stars” were perfect. They had a real chemistry. And before anyone tells you, if you haven’t already seen it, ‘it’s another “cancer” movie, don’t believe them. Yes, cancer is a great part of the story, but it isn’t the focus. Finding true love is the focus.
Remember: The power to breaking any evil spell will always be…true love’s kiss.
Have a wonderful day everyone! 🙂
