My First Portrait Drawing!!

DSCN4047[1]

I AM HALFWAY THERE IN COMPLETING ONE OF MY NEW YEAR’S GOALS FOR THIS MONTH! I HAVE COMPLETED A PIECE OF ART.

This is Matthew Songmaker, a boy of 14 I believe, who can play many instruments including the fiddle which he is doing here. I drew this from a black and white photograph he had posted on his Facebook page (with his and his dad’s permission of course.) πŸ™‚ I haven’t felt this challenged in working on a drawing in years! I have been working on it for about a week now several hours a day, but it has really been fun and relaxing.

Yesterday I bought an 8×8 black frame for it, but I haven’t decided what color matting to frame it in yet. The drawing is 6.5″ x 6″ so it is going to be interesting. I couldn’t find a smaller frame; plus the square frame looks like it will work fine.

I left out background stuff that was blurry anyway since he was the focus of the picture. I plan to give this to him as a gift as soon as I’m finished.

My next new project is going to be trying my first watercolor portrait painting of my daughter. For now I will be getting back to working on my colored pencil Nativity scene.

Have a wonderful day everyone! Give someone you love a big hug. πŸ™‚

When I began this blog I was simply going to share my writing. However, after being part of the blogging world for quite some time now, I decided to begin sharing my artwork. Patsy's Creative Corner will always have my artwork. Thanks for visiting! :)
