COMFORT AND JOY

These are the words that come to my mind when I think of my husband. He is a huge comfort to me all the time. He is also one of the most joy-filled people I know. Hopefully, I am learning from him.

Yesterday, we went out to celebrate our 19th Anniversary. Normally, we go to our favorite Italian restaurant called Gironda’s. We have gone there for the last ten years I think. But this year we decided to wait until January to do that. I told him we could just get each other a card. But of course he still got me a little something. He bought me a little book by Max Lucado, called “Grace Happens Here”. I am halfway through it already and will probably finish it today. It is easy reading, but filled with the truths of God’s Word. It was something he knew I would like. He was right. After all, we’ve known each other for 20 years.

What we decided to do instead of going out to dinner was go sit at Barnes and Noble and have afternoon coffee. Then we went to the movie theater to see “It’s A Wonderful Life” on the big screen which was really great. We used to watch it together every year, but the last couple of years we didn’t for whatever reason. So it was refreshing once again. It will always bring back memories of our dating days. Our very first date was on Christmas Day in 1993. We married on December 18, 1994. So needless to say December is a special month for us. We purposely try and make it fun, not let it get stressful. My birthday is also on the 14th. I know. People ask us all the time why we got married in December. All we can say is, we didn’t want to wait! It was fun.

So what did I give him? His card was my gift. I painted the Millineum Falcon from Star Wars on a watercolor card. I have to confess, though, that I traced it from a drawing book, because it is pretty detailed looking. But I did the painting of it myself. I will take a photo of it and probably put it up on my blog tomorrow.

I can definitely say that the last 20 years has been a more wonderful life than I ever imagined I would have being married with kids. It has truly been a comfort and joy!

Have a wonderful day and give someone you love a big hug.
