Photography: Gateway to Fine Art

The other day I took some time to go up on the Butte by where I live. It is actually a vent off of an old volcano. Fortunately, it is inactive. I drive over it a few days a week to take our kids to their History and English classes. It is really a beautiful drive, especially this time of year. One thing I did that day, which was probably rather nuts, was slowed down a lot at some points to take pictures I would not be able to get any other way except from the car. Color me CRAZY!! The thought that was going through my head was “don’t war photographers risk their lives for a great shot every day?” Okay, yeah, that’s my crazy artist brain at work. Anyway, I hope to do some paintings from at least a few of the photos I took. Sometimes I just need inspiration from nature to find ideas for paintings.

So here are just a few of the shots in a series of photos I plan to publish over the next week. I have been busy editing them over the last few days, and I don’t believe I am done yet. I have also been editing other old photos I have been taking over the last few YEARS and am finally putting onto the computer.

But I want to end with this! At one point I pulled over and parked at a big turnout and walked up a hill to get some shots. On that little walk I found a tennis shoe. My first thought? “I wonder if there’s a dead body down in that ravine?” Wow, too much CSI over the years. I did look around as much as I could, but I didn’t see anyone. Is it crazy to say I was a little disappointed? I think it would be kind of cool to find someone whom loved ones have been hoping to find, although, I’d rather find a live person!

Have a great weekend everyone, and give someone you love a hug!

This is part of a tree that fell into a neat circle. So I thought I would enclose it into a circle!

I purposely made this one darker to give it some character.

Shadow Trees

Just a drainpipe, but I liked the way the grass looked around and in front of it.

Dark Shadows (A girl my mom used to babysit loved this show! I never did, but I thought it was a good title for this photo.)

Lastly, some fall colors are still around!

When I began my first blog, Patsy's Creative Corner, I was simply going to share my artwork. However, after being part of the blogging world for quite some time now, I came back into another hobby I have - writing. So Patsy's Creative Corner will still have my artwork and some writing, but I created a new blog called My Crazy Life! in order to simply write my short autobiography and hopefully get some feedback on it as I go. However, it is a very slow project right now.
