Beautiful Blue!

These flowers were in the yard of the bed and breakfast that my family and I went on vacation to in Crescent City, CA, last summer. It’s a beautiful place with wonderful hosts! Check it out!

Eventually I plan to do a painting of them.

  2. I just love hydrangeas … I have a young plant just the same. The way to get such an intense blue is to put iron nails in the bottom of the planting hole as the iron turns them blue. They can change the basic colour of pink to blue this way. Fascinating, isn’t it? Good luck with the painting.

    • I was amazed by the color, too! That’s an interesting way to get that color. I wonder if that’s what they did? Anyway, I’m so glad you said what kind of flower it is! I couldn’t think of it and hadn’t tried to find it in a book. Thank you! I don’t know when I’m going to get to this particular one, because I am starting a watercolor of an interesting flower from a friend’s garden. She said it is some kind of rose, but she didn’t remember planting it!! 🙂 I have been intending to do it for months. So I plan to get it lightly drawn onto my paper today.
